Houston Farm Riding School
Houston Farm Riding School is a family run Riding School, near Dechmont, West Lothian and was established in 1972 by Ian & Elizabeth Comrie. The centre is licensed and approved by both the ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools) and BHS (British Horse Society).
Houston offers Group, Private and Birthday rides to suit all ages and standards of riding. With Horses & Ponies to suit all standards, the Houston is able to offer children and adults riding lessons on the flat and over jumps to a wide degree of ability. The horses/ponies range from younger animals to school masters covering riders ranging from novices to competition/exam riders. Houston is also a Pony Club Centre.
As a Training Centre for SVQ qualifications, Houston is an approved centre for training students through their SVQ assessments up to and including level III training. Different to ABRS/BHS exams the SVQ assessment systems allow candidates to do course work as part of their daily work and be examined as ready. The assessor then has ample opportunity to view the candidate performing the task. This differentiates itself from the exam day pass/fail method.
The facilities at Houston Farm Riding School include, an Indoor Riding School (18.3m x 30.5m), with seating area for spectators. Indoor Riding School (20m x 40m). Floodlit Outdoor Sand Arena with Jumps. A Lecture Room. A small cafe and shop.
