Spencer Wilton was raised in Suffolk, where he was a keen member of the Essex and Suffolk Pony Club. He began his career in eventing, where he represented Great Britain at the Pony European Championships in 1987. He later changed career paths to dressage having decided not to continue with eventing.


To date he has won 13 National dressage titles, gaining his first in 1999. Spencer made his international debut for Great Britain in 2006.


With Super Nova II [who stable name is Neville], the duo have achieved some good results during the 2016 season. This includes top ten finishes in Roosendaal, as well as first placings in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special classes in Lier.


Spencer competed as a member of the British dressage team at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro on Super Nova II, a horse he co-owns with Jen Goodman. The team won a Silver medal.


Wilton is openly gay, and was previously in a relationship with international dressage rider Carl Hester.  He runs his own yard in Berkshire with partner Darren Hicks.
