Fernhill Riding

Established in 1978, Fernhill Riding offers quality training and tuition catering for all standards, from beginner to advanced. The yard is a small friendly yard based in the West Sussex countryside approximately 15 minutes from Junction 9 of the M23.

Clients may bring their own horse/pony or may use one of Fernhill’s well schooled mounts. All of the centre’s horses are in top condition, are regularly checked by a Veterinary Surgeon and have monthly visits by a qualified saddler. Fernhill is licensed by Crawley Borough Council who carry out annual inspections on the horses welfare and the overall standards of Health and Safety.

The Fernhill team includes fully insured BHS trained and qualified instructors, local equine veterinary practitioners, local equine physiotherapy partners, a remedial farrier and master saddler.

Fernhill’s team believe that equine education is not only about riding. Over the years there have been a number of successful training clinics and lecture/demonstrations explaining horse locomotion, riding theory, rider position/ balance and their effect on the horse. Jane Edwards is available to teach in the privacy of your own yard and welcomes the opportunity to provide full or half day dressage clinics to a wider audience. Three day courses by arrangement.

Full livery and schooling liveries are available. Facilities at Fernhill Riding include a 20m x 40m floodlit covered school with superb surface and training mirrors. A horse walker with rubber floor, well ventilated large loose boxes and a heated tack room.

The centre enforce a strict weight limit of 12 stone for clients.
