Scropton Riding and Driving Centre

Scropton Riding & Driving Centre welcomes riders & drivers of all standards, abilities and ages. Situated in the village of Scropton in South Derbyshire. The Centre is about 10 miles south-west of Derby, 6 miles north-west of Burton and is conveniently situated just off the A50.

Scropton Riding and Driving Centre has been on this site for over 40 years. The Centre was officially opened by HRH The Princes Royal, President of the RDA in 1978. However the group, then known as East Midlands Riding Association for the Handicapped, had first been set up in 1964 by Physiotherapists and Doctors from the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary who had the foresight to recognise great potential of riding for people with disabilities and fought hard to make the association a reality.

The excellent facilities, experienced staff and friendly atmosphere cater for riders and drivers from beginners to advanced. The Centre is also the home of Scropton Riding for the Disabled, providing safe & enjoyable riding and driving activities for a wide range of abilities, and is only one of a small number of purpose built Riding for the Disabled Centres. Scropton Riding for the Disabled Centre is a registered Charity supported by enthusiastic volunteers and fund-raisers.

Able-bodied riding & driving instruction is also offered to a high standard. Both group and private riding lessons are available. Driving instruction can be given for singles, pairs, tandems and teams. The Centre is a BHS approved Riding Establishment, as well as offering training for British Driving Society and British Horse Society Exams can be given. Residential courses are available on request.
